Canal Head, Driffield
Canal Head
Thursday 8th January 2015 Driffield
The end of the Driffield Canal, close to the town centre. On the right the Bradshaws Mill buildings and to the left those of Mortimers. The canal opened in 1770 to enable farm produce to be transported to Hull and the West Riding via the river Humber. The canal was last used commercially in the 1940's, work is currently under way to restore the canal for pleasure craft to reach Driffield.
